Talk about a long winters’ night.

Literally and physically.

But seed trays are planted & hydrangea is propagating in windowsills, and there is hope.

FINALLY.

Flowers, ferns and Heirloom tomatoes…. It’s a good start for this weekend.

Along with an eco-friendly gardening by season plan. Growing up in Northwest New Jersey, I literally never had a clue as to how fulfilling and inspiring a garden would be; especially five decades later.

My mother was a workhorse in the garden, LOL, from rototilling and seeding by hand, to garden-keeping, weeding perfectly manicured rows of organic vegetables, and harvesting, canning, and preparing those fresh vegetables that would fill a huge freezer in the basement, that would feed us from October until April every year.

(They say our corn and tomatoes are the best in Iowa but I think they need to have some from New Jersey LOL)

I am also very grateful for attending Iowa State university’s Master Gardener program while living on a century farm in Iowa, and learning about my growing zone, soil conditions, limitations, and pest control. (that last class was dreadful, but I digress…)

I just am so thankful I can organically grow and prepare my own food. And share that with others. For me personally, I think it saved my life.

So here’s to looking forward, planting seeds of change and bringing as many people together at the table as you can.
